Your Direct Line to Certified U.S. Precision Manufacturers

Engineers and procurement teams at aerospace, defense, medical, and firearms companies work with Legg Associates when they need a new certified U.S. supplier — without spending weeks finding one themselves.

One conversation is all it takes.
Who We Are
Legg Associates is an independent manufacturer's representative firm — established in 1959 and based in Roanoke, Virginia. We work with engineers and procurement teams at aerospace, defense, medical, and firearms companies who need a vetted, certified U.S. precision manufacturer without spending weeks tracking one down themselves.

We represent a carefully selected group of U.S. manufacturers across springs, Swiss machining, CNC, MIM, stamping, cold heading, precision grinding, DMLS, and tube drawing — all holding relevant certifications including AS9100D, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, and ITAR. One conversation with us gets you directly to the right shop, the right capability, and the right contact.

Additional Information

MOQs / EOQs

Our manufacturers build to order — there is no off-the-shelf inventory. Most programs use a release schedule (blanket PO with scheduled drops), which our suppliers accommodate regularly.

We can support any order size, but economics apply: smaller lots carry a higher piece-price due to set-up, programming, and material minimums. As volume increases — or as the number of unique components in a program grows — those fixed charges spread across more parts and unit cost improves toward the economic order quantity (EOQ).

Not sure what quantity makes sense? Reach out and we'll walk you through it.

PPAP / FAI

Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspection (FAI) are available on request and quoted with the part.

  • Scope: Dimensional reports, material and process certificates, control plans, and other elements per your spec or customer requirements.
  • Timing: FAI typically ships prior to production release unless otherwise agreed.
  • Cost: A one-time documentation and inspection charge may apply — rolled into NRE where appropriate.
  • Tip: Share your templates or customer-specific forms early so we can build them into the quote from the start.
Expedites

Expedites are often possible depending on material availability, outside services (heat treat, plating, grinding), and current machine loading. The earlier you flag the need, the better your options.

  • Best approach: Share quantity, material, cert requirements, and required date so we can assess the true critical path.
  • Fees: An expedite surcharge may apply to cover overtime, split lots, or premium outside processing.
  • Partial shipments: We can often arrange an early partial release to keep your builds moving while the balance completes.
Factory Authorized Representative

Legg Associates is the factory-authorized sales representative for every manufacturer we present. That means you get direct access to their engineering and production teams, the same pricing as going direct, and a single point of contact for the life of your program.

  • We manage NDAs, initial technical reviews, and supplier introductions — so the right people are talking from day one.
  • One line of communication covers all your suppliers — no juggling contacts across multiple shops.
  • We stay engaged after PO award to keep schedules on track and resolve issues before they escalate.
Is there a cost to work with Legg Associates?

No — our services are completely free to you. Legg Associates is compensated by the manufacturers we represent, not by our customers. You pay only for parts and any separately quoted services such as FAI/PPAP, expedites, or special packaging. There are no consulting fees, sourcing fees, or markups on our end.
